Where It's Happening

Roskilde Festival, Roskilde, Denmark, 30th June -3rd July, 2011
Some people said that it took Prince, Florence and the Machine, Gorillaz, Muse, Patti Smith, Jack Johnson, Alice in Chains, Kasabian, Pavement and LCD Soundsystem to maintain Roskilde’s reputation as one of Europe’s best festivals, but those people were wrong. Roskilde has been going since 1971, and as the continent’s fifth biggest joy-bang of the season, it therefore has such a strong presence and heritage that even if, for some bizarre reason, all the bands didn’t turn up, you could probably be guaranteed a great time by just hanging out with all the cool people that go there…
So far only two bands have confirmed their presence. But when the band’s names are Iron Maiden and Kings of Leon, you know you’re in for a good time.

Insider Tip: If you’re planning on camping, then make sure to turn up early because the Danes are early risers, and queues form quickly while the stewards make you wait for the campsite to open.
