Sweet-voiced, sharp-tongued singer-songwriter Marina hails from Wales but claims to come from Ancient Greece, which gives you some clue about the strain of wondrous weirdness running through her music. Mixing thoughtful, pared-down ballads and danceable tunes inspired by 80s pop, Marina defies categorisation with one hand while playing a vintage synth with the other. Her songs about obsession, love and characters from the Jungle Book could be the soundtrack to a very strange love affair – so if you're planning to have one this summer, you should definitely catch the quite brilliant Marina at Stag & Dagger, Latitude, Glastonbury or Big Chill.
